Drive break minimum duration

This constraint defines the minimum duration a driving break must have in order to be counted as rest time during a driving session.

Format: HH:MM

Note: Drive break duration is not considered working time by TourSolver. Therefore, the total working day is extended by the equivalent break duration.

Example: If a break is only considered rest when it lasts at least 15 minutes, then Drive break min duration = 00:15.

Example scenario (Maximum drive duration without break + Drive break duration+Drive break min duration)

  • Max drive duration without break = 04:30

  • Drive break duration = 00:45

  • Drive break min duration = 00:15

This means the resource may drive for 4 hours and 30 minutes if they take a total of 45 minutes of break time. This break can be split into, for example, three 15-minute pauses, or a 30-minute pause followed by a 15-minute pause.

However, if the resource has taken two 20-minute breaks and one 10-minute break, they must still take an additional break of at least 15 minutes to reach the required 45 minutes of qualifying rest time, because the 10-minute break does not meet the minimum 15-minute requirement and is therefore not counted.
